Rwanda : Canal + and CanalSat launches in Rwanda
After a successful Satellite change in May 2012, CANAL+ AFRIQUE has extended its presence in Central Africa, and now covers Rwanda.
Since July 2012, CANALSAT package has been reinforced with 14 new channels all special-interest channels combined and they include; 4 African channels: TFM, Télé Africa, Canal Info News, Canal 3 and 2 musical channels: Africabox and Beblack.
Others are 1 movie channel : Ciné Polar, 1 Youth channel : Piwi+, 2 Discovery channels : Planète+ Justice et Nat Geo Wild, 3 Sport channels : MC Sport, MC Sport Extrême et Trace Sports and 1 News channel : BBC World News.
According to the CEO of Tele10 Eugene Nyagahene, the pay TV Company comes with a strong and robust technology that will revolutionalise the TV industry in Rwanda at affordable prices.
Speaking at the launch press conference in Kigali, the CANAL+ AFRIQUE Communications Director Francoise Le Guennou-Remarck said that the company rings channels that will enable subscribers to enjoy various sports and a host of entertainment and movie channels broadcasted across thirty countries.
Guennou-Remarck also said that the company has established a marketing strategy which aims to be closer to its subscribers and to deliver quality services while facilitating subscription renewal.
We are developing a retail network across the country with the launch of a new means of payment – the top up card.
“The top-up cards will be made available throughout the country as a way of creating accessibility to our products,” she said.
According to Nyagahene, subscribers can choose to among four proposed formulas at affordable prices, these include; les chaines canal+, Canalsat access, canalsat evasion and Tout canal.
“The subscriber can form his own combinations for a supply that fits to his needs. This flexibility in subscription goes hand in hand with subscription period and renewal period flexibility, that is to say 1, 3, 6 or 12 months from a fixed date to another date at a single tarrif.”
Guennou-Remarck says that the TV Company hopes to include local content in its broadcasts which will begin soon with a local produced movie and the live broadcast of the Tour of Rwanda cycling in November this year.
The operator comes into the Rwandan market finding DSTV and Star Africa Times Company. It targets to have acquired about 50, 000 subscribers in a period of four years.
