Rwanda : Five TV stations set to open soon
After twenty years Rwanda having one broadcasting service,TVR, media High council has authorized 5 private television stations that will start operating as soon as RURA gives them frequency.
The information was disclosed by executive secretary of media high council Emmanuel Mugisha while explaining the status of media transformation from analogue to digital.
“Already we had authorized 5 TV stations but the challenge was to transform from analogue to digital because its expensive, however things have stabilized again and Rwandese investors are ready to pump capital in media sector” says SG Emmanuel.
He added that media high council is busy discussing on content for all 5 television stations as they are waiting for RURA to authorize frequency.
Among the five TV station authorized is Contact TV, Super TV, Lemmigo TV, Tv 10 and family television.
Family TV is already in testing period and its showing through star media networks and internet.
According to media high council, the television channels will come in handy; meanwhile, ORINFOR hopes to venture into the market with six more TV channels.
